Cello, Violin, Piano

Gremnir is a Bay Area native and has been a professionally active cellist since 2007. In 2012 he started teaching privately and completed his undergraduate (2014) and graduate studies (2016) in Music Theory and Composition at CSU East Bay in Hayward, CA. As an advocate for nurturing a love of music first, Gremnir takes a fun, take-at-your pace approach to teaching. From there, students have lesson plans tailored to their abilities and learn the fundamentals of music theory to have an edge in live performance. Specialized lessons in songwriting, composition, and music theory are also offered to help blossoming artists of all ages discover and develop their musical voice.

In 2011 Gremnir realized his passion for writing music after being a cello performance major for a year, pushing him to complete his Bachelor’s degree as a music composition major studying under Frank La Rocca. He continued studying this field with Jeffrey Miller in his graduate studies and wrote a symphony for his master’s thesis, which was performed in March 2016 by a hand-picked orchestra and choir. His pieces, “Arkantos, the Darkfather” and “My Asylum” (performed by REDSHIFT Ensemble) received special recognition from the Glenn Glasow Fellowship committee that helped pay for his studies at CSU East Bay.

To sate his artistic curiosity Gremnir continues to make cinematic music inspired by mythology, history and ancient traditional instruments. He currently has two albums and three singles out, much of which have roots in dark storytelling and Old Norse writings. If you wish to listen to his work they are available for your listening pleasure here and all streaming platforms.

Lessons are offered in hybrid (remote and in-person) format and Gremnir is excited to make music with you at Los Gatos Music Academy!
