Larissa Lyon
Flute
My name is Larissa and I have over 16 years of playing experience in marching band, symphonic band, and small ensemble performances for flute, alto flute, and piccolo. I recently performed in the orchestra pit for the musical Les Miserables. Currently seeking new beginning, intermediate, and advanced level students.
My goal as a teacher is to help the student build a solid foundation and to develop the skills needed to be able to teach themselves and grow even on their own. I work on strengthening weaknesses and building solid musicianship in a one-on-one setting that gives the student undivided attention and room for conversational learning.
I love teaching music because I love connecting with people on such a surreal artistic platform as music and helping people express themselves through an instrument. It’s one thing to listen to music or watch it being performed, but I find it a completely magical experience to actually play an instrument and become a part of the music. Being a musician gives you a whole other outlet for expression and I love being a part of that with other people. I think music is good for you and makes you a more whole person and I love being able to bring that to others.
